Construction of this addition required the demolition of the rear portion of the existing kitchen and remodel of the kitchen and the incorporation of a new Family Room construction. The remodel included the construction of a second story bedroom that allowed tie-in the adjacent attic. This remodel for Kitchen and Family Room was over $250,000. Award for Best Addition for 1999 & 2000. Location in Atlanta, Georgia.
This Kitchen remodel and Family Room addition was a difficult challenge to incorporate with the existing house because the original building materials for the foundation were granite stone, with an exterior veneer of brick, which had been painted and then sand-blasted. Particular detail was given to the exterior surface treatments for the Kitchen/Family Room addition to match identically the existing finishes on the original house. The addition match was so perfect it was almost impossible to distinguish the new from the original. The incredible design and remodel for this addition was unusual and as indicated by our awards, was well merited!
